When he was in Grade 3, Chris Macasaet really wanted to be part of De La Salle-Lipa’s basketball team. When he raised his hand to join the squad, however, the recruiters just ignored him. This influenced him to set his sights to another sport—volleyball.
Seven years later, Chris no longer had to raise his hands to get the attention of recruiters. Several collegiate agents pursued him relentlessly. But a La Sallian since his elementary years, Chris naturally decided to play for the De La Salle University-Manila.
“It has always been my dream to play for La Salle,” Chris said. “Besides, I already knew the school’s system, so there was no use for me to leave.”
The hype he got proved to be warranted. In his rookie year, the 6’2”-tall Chris already bagged the Best Blocker award. This has sent a warning to the whole league. Chris was not just pure buildup—he has real talent.
Green Spikers edge out Maroons to claim third spot
Thanks to the heads-up play of stalwarts Chris Macasaet and John Kevin Dela Vega, the Green Spikers grab the third position in the men’s volleyball standings as they trounced the UP Maroons 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 today. Both Macasaet and Dela Vega had 14 points apiece for the Green Spikers, who improved their record to 7-5.
After struggling in the early part of the tournament, our men’s volleyball team has climbed their way into contention. With only 2 games remaining in their elimination round schedule, they have to win both in order for them to solidify their position in the final four.
Green Spikers smash Eagles to end first round

The De La Salle Green Spikers finish their first round campaign with a 3-1 win over Ateneo 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 today. With the victory, they now hold a 3-4 record which puts them currently in fifth place in the tournament. Defending champion UST leads the field together with FEU while UP and UE round up the top four.
Unbeaten for the Holidays
The Lady Spikers will bring their perfect slate on to the new year as they fashioned out a 25-18, 26-24, 25-14 win over UP today to remain on top of the helm. Stephanie Mercado led the team to their 5th win in as many games with 17 hits. Charleen Cruz followed with 13 points. Reserves Camille Cerveza and Isabella Lepping also contributed significantly as they each had 3 service aces out of the team’s total of 11.
In the men’s division, the Green Spikers absorbed its 3rd setback in 5 games as they fall to Adamson 25-22, 25-14, 25-22. Chris Macasaet topscored for the Green Archers with 19 points
Our volleyball teams will resume their campaign starting Jan 9 as the Lady Spikers face NU while the Green Spikers take on FEU the next day.
Cruzin’ To Their 4th win
The Lady Spikers simply outclassed UE today 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 to stay unbeaten in UAAP Season 72. The score though does not clearly reflect how our team dominated the contest. If not for a series of service errors, the margin would have been staggering. It was clear from the start that the Lady Spikers were heavily favored to claim their 4th win. Charleen Cruz, who had 12 points, was the best player of the game.
Over at the men’s division, the Green Spikers prevailed over National U in 5 sets to notch their 2nd win in 4 games.
