Lady Spikers overwhelm NU for 12th win

The Lady Spiker’s win today wasn’t a surprise at all. What is shocking though was that the winless NU squad was able to win a set. You could chalk that up to overconfidence on the part of our volleybelles. Nevertheless, with the Lady Spiker’s 25-15, 19-25, 25-15, 25-13 demolition job on the Lady Bulldogs, they are assured of a twice-to-beat advantage in the semis. A win over also-ran UE on Wednesday will solidify their top position at the end of the eliminations.

Charleen Cruz led the team with 14 points and 11 attacks.

The Lady Spikers just have to watch that intermittent loss of concentration that has allowed their last opponents to take a set. Today, they gifted NU with the 2nd set but buckled down to take the 3rd and 4th sets handily. They probably won’t be tested against UE next Wednesday, but against UST, the Lady Spikers must keep their concentration throughout the game. UST is tall, talented, and well coached, and we’ll meet them in an eagerly awaited match up on Valentine’s Day.

UST was coming off a VLeague championship run, but our Lady Spikers outlasted them in 5 sets in the very first game. Our team will finish in the top 2, facing either Adamson or Ateneo in the final 4. Assuming we play true to form, we should meet UST in the finals.

I agree with Nel…In fact in games against AdU and ADMU, they lost during the 3rd set and also lost the 1st set against UP. But, a win is still a win and let’s hope for 17-0 all the way to the championship. Animo La Salle!

DLSU has it all na, pero yung focus lang tlga ang kailangan, dapat consistent sila at wag magng overconfident kahit pa alam nilang lamang sila.

  5. Yuh, its true that there are times that the lady archers losses their focus in some of their games because maybe they are over-confident. I was shock that the winless NU Lady Bulldogs was able to snatch a set against the undefeated Lady Spikers. I do believe that the match against Nu open the the eyes of the girls to be focused and be determined. The game against UST will surely be a test against La Salle in how they are going to adjust there playing patterns because its a fact that the Tigresses are tall same as them. I am very confident that my team, DLSU will get the crown this year. I may not be a LASALISTA as others but i always support the lady archers here in davao city way back the times of Penetrante and Saet..

    I wish you GOODLUCK!!!1
