Jacq Attack! Lady Spikers beat UP

Living up to their team name, the UP Fighting Lady Maroons put up a resilient fight to start the ballgame which enabled them to snatch the first set from the unusually sluggish Lady Spikers. But when the defending champions turned it on in the succeeding sets, the girls from Diliman realized that scoring a colossal upset is just wishful thinking.

Perhaps the only thing colossal today was Jacqueline Alarca’s game as she was instrumental to the team’s win with 22 pts and 17 attacks. With the Lady Spikers 23-25, 25-17, 25-11, 25-18 win today, they still remain unbeaten with an 11-0 slate. They are expected to breeze past their two next assignments against the lower-seeded teams in the coming weeks.

The only team standing in their way for an elimination sweep is UST who is currently in second place. The two powerhouses collide on Feb 14.

Stephanie actually led the stats with 23 points (20 attacks). Let’s also give credit to Joanne Siy and Charleen Cruz, who had five blocks and four aces respectively.

During the first set, it is noticed that coach Ramil did used a different lineup. Gumabao, Cervesa, and even Yeung saw minutes. This goes to show that coach Ramil is cooking something maybe as a preparation for the final four.

i liked the title: “Jacq Attack!”. Ms. Alarca was so consistent ever since the second round of eliminations began. She’s a great player! Congrats Miss Alarca!

    Congrats DLSU Lady Spikers!

    Animo La Salle!

ang naging problema lang kasi sa set 1, mas maraming errors kaysa sa scores nla sa offense.Ang errors fr. la salle ang bumuhay sa UP.
