Postgame Bullets: DLSU 65 ADMU 81
Posted by GREENARCHERS.PH
- La Sallians are probably longing for a game when all of our players would play consistently. The veterans, namely Peejay Barua gave a good account of himself this game but sadly, those who carried the cudgels for the team just a week ago were not in their usual selves.
- The team is currently on a three-game slide for the first time in more than a decade. The loss against Adamson probably has to hurt the most. With a 4-5 record, the team is currently out of the Final 4 picture if it started today.
- All is not lost though as there are still 5 more games to be played. 8 wins would probably secure us of at least a playoff for a semifinal berth. A tall order indeed considering that the Archers have yet to face FEU, UE and UST this round.
- A twice-to beat edge may already be out of the question for our team. Securing a place in the final 4 should now be the team’s main focus and if this could be achieved, anything can happen.
- This is has got to be a disappointing week for all of us. Counting the Junior Archers’ loss yesterday to the Eaglets, La Salle has lost 4 games against the Blue Bird Schools (the other being Adamson) in 8 days. We failed to hit our target in this bird hunting week.
- As to how our team will bounce back after these series of setbacks remains to be seen. At this point, there’s no way to go but UP!

This was a really ugly loss, hopefully we can bounce back from this and string together a few wins, coupled with a few UST losses and we might just get that final 4 berth. One good thing though is that is seems like Mr. Barua is finally out of his shooting slump. Hopefully his shooting touch will continue to work for him till the end of the season
The Final Four berth should definitely be the main focus. If we get there, we could probably at least get to watch one (or two??) more Ateneo-La Salle game.
Our veterans better step it up soon or we will be out of the final four. I still have faith that we can make it.
It seems Barua was given the green light to shoot. He launched a lot and had air balls too like Malabes, but looks like it does him better to be aggressive than to be gun shy. RV was receiving the ball out of the shaded lane; set plays are needed to give him the ball inside.
After a number of games we are getting a clearer picture of this team – stiff “gigil”, unsure, erratic, rushing on offense, out-of-synch, headless… which we have not seen before in any Green Archer team
What I think the team needs: loosen up, a point guard who inspires confidence and sets the plays clearly, get your timing on set plays right, stop rushing, constant aggressiveness on offense (as with Webb), gang rebounding, heart!
looking at the team standings as of tonite, I hope UE or UST (or both) will lose a game and the Archers win their last remaining games so there is a triple tie for the 3 and 4th place in the final four…that’s a tall order…the 1 and 2nd will be between Ateneo and FEU, as they are both sporting a remarkable win-loss standing…way ahead than our present position…
Whenever Malabes comes into play, we get disappointed. >:(
btw, where’s marko batricevic?
Today we saw a team without intensity. It showed in our defense most especially. We were soft in all defensive moves. This I cannot understand. We just dont know what kind of team will show up in the games. Up to last sunday even though we lost to ateneo i felt the team was moving towards a positive develoment. But after our loss to adamson we are back to when we started the tournament. This puzzles me and sometimes wonder if there is any internal problem among the players. The coaching staff needs to rethink their strategies.
please coach Franz…do not use Malabes and Atkins that much…they do more damage than help the team in all of the previous games…use them sparingly…you may want to use the rookies more (like Sam and Gab) at this point to build their confidence for the future…the rookies are playing better than the veterans…it seems that the heart of Malabes and Atkins are not in there…they are playing in this league for more than 3 years already and yet they performed that way at this point and time…they should have adjusted quickly than the rookies and yet the rookies are the ones playing better with heart and intensity…the guards should be dictating and directing the tempo and plays, respectively…but the veterans are not doing that…too bad LA Revilla is not around…we really need him right now…btw, what is his sakit?
the critics are not there to put them down but to make them realize that they still have a long way to go to improve their game and not to be complacent…they must realize that they are the veterans of the team and they must set examples for the rookies…they must put their heart and intensity in every game…hindi pwede yung palambot-lambot and as if hindi nila alam yung gagawin nila sa court…
marko batricevic…injured as always…
BADER MALABES IS THE WEAKEST LINK AND HE IS MAKING THE SHIP SINK.
We should have fought like green archers earlier not just a team from any barangay against the eagles. Guys, you gotta fight with HEART
la salle pa din kahit talo, it is just basketball..haha..keep the faith guys..i know we can make it..
just being realistic, the team still has a lot of formidable opponents coming up. don’t assume we have no where to go but up. you might be surprised how the lowest can turn out to be lower than what we thought.
i hope the team can perform better so that they could propel themselves UP! the dlsu community is here to support them all the way!
Animo!
i hate to say this but we all have to admit that mangahas is the weakest link in our team. he is so slow and it affects the pace of the team. i think all of them should practice 500 medium and long range shots a day in our gym. sad to say, we don’t have shooter/s in our team. it makes our opponents defend the paint effectively.
a final four stint would be bonus for our team. to fight for the title this year would be a miracle. but just thesame we are not losing faith. to the coaching staff, please look for one or two quality big men next year. the rookies are great and they need the likes of jun limpot or rico mierhoffer.
i wonder how ateneo make the shot everytime. Parang computer ang ateneo. they don’t miss when open.
Animo parin!
greenblade is right…
Can someone tell him to try out for the green tracksters…
yun lang naman alam nya eh… tumakbo na walang nangyayari!
2 turnovers were wasted because of him…
and james mangahas did score but i did not see intensity…
we needed him to be at his A game but again we were disappointed…
so much for a veteran…
parang ayaw na nya maglaro…
Ayoko makipag argue dito, if i offended anyone i’m sorry..
it’s my opinion..
We have a longshot that we make to the final 4…
Pray that UST loses to UP and pray for at least a 4 game winning streak..
Obvious the shooting is really terrible. Some of the shots are way off target. “Practice makes perfect shooting” how about 4-6 hours a day plus foul shots. The only player I see with intensity is Joshua Webb, he cannot carry the team on his own. I am not expecting a great year, this is a rebuilding year, we have got many talents that will be developed for the future.
practice shooting is an individual initiative…parang si caidic nun when he was still playing for u.e. shooting is an acquired skill not inherent. yes i agree practice makes perfect…problema parang walang nagpapractice ng shooting sa team. que horror ang shooting natin. nakakainis mang isipin..ang babano ng players natin. parang takbo lang ng takbo ang alam. but i believe joshua, ric marata, villanueva, bringas and andrada would be consistent in the comming years…they are indeed promising players.
Guys, kapit lang….wag bibitaw, never give up on our team! Let,s continue to believe, have faith that there will be a positive turn around! ANIMO LA SALLE!!!
GREENARCHERS better read this!!!
The team lacks experience,. no dominant player at all, no one steps up! what are the veterans doing, are you in a parade or what? what are you doing former MVP Atkins? You are like “JJ Redick” of the Orlando Magic. Its best not to play Bader Malabes, just sit him down like “Steve Francis”! Better not watch live because it brings headache to fans and I am one of that!
MY FEARLESS FORECAST: Out of the remaining 5 games, DLSU will lose 2-3 more games. And a new mark in history will come that DLSU cannot enter this Season’s Final Four. I may have faith with the Archers, but reality speaks for itself! Better break my forecast if you can.
you’re right but let’s be positive, reality speaks, they’re a young team this year, learning and struggling its true… maybe better when you’ve posted your article but never say it on our fans or to the community face to face… it’s really a heartbreak
goodluck to us, you can still do it archers, chances are still a challenge. supporters and fans go out there and cheer show that we’re not the one’s who does give up… never let those disappointments that can affect us in every matters
argh.. i have never saw archers won when im watching live especially in big games like this.. me and my buddies were cheering out loud kahit paos na kami.. pero the way they play in the court… it just lowers our morale and of their fans… sobrang disappointed na talaga kami.. I before always have defended how our varsity play like that but as time goes by there is no improvement especially with our great veterans so to speak..
sana kahit final 4 man lang makapasok ang lasalle.. tsk
KEEP THE FAITH ANIMO LASALLE!
