Pregame Bullets: DLSU vs ADMU 8/16

  • I decided to dig-up the archived files of the old greenarcher.net site and I just learned that the last time we defeated the Blue Eagles in a regular UAAP elimination round match was way back on September 15, 2005. The score was 72-55.
  • Despite losing to Ateneo last Sunday, the Archers played a good game. It was just unfortunate that breaks didn’t go the team’s way in overtime and this enabled the Eagles to pull-off a 76-72 victory.
  • Surprisingly, they will face the Eagles again this Sunday. The Archers were probably already too focused for this rematch that they forgot they had to duel with the slumping Adamson Falcons first. Alas, they also lost that game as well. Disappointing as it is, the Archers should forget this one, move on and be ready for the succeeding games.
  • The veterans really have to step-up for us to win. True, we probably indeed have the best crop of rookies this season but experience will still carry this team forward. Sadly the more seasoned players have not yet been consistent in providing the much needed boost.
  • It just seems that the people are looking for a Guardian Archer (aka King Archer), one that will call them to a huddle and DEMAND performance from the others, and at the same time perform excellently himself. There has been none yet this season. Simply because we are the youngest team in the league right now. We cannot get that from one Archer this season. It has to be a collective effort by the TEAM.
  • The model we have to follow is the Archer team of the first Ateneo-La Salle encounter. Everybody trusted everybody. When the shot was available, they took it without hesitation. When the defensive stop was needed, we delivered. Why did we come up short then? Because, we still lack the experience to recognize that the little things are very important and not to be taken for granted. And those little things added up to the 4 points that was our deficit at the end of the game.
  • Franz is really trying to fill the gaps. The substitutions are being made. Nobody is over worked. The playing time is well distributed. This is a hint to the players already. There is NO GUARDIAN ARCHER this season. BUT…………….ALL OF YOU, the players, are the guardian archers this season AS A COLLECTIVE UNIT. If there is one they should keep in mind, it is TEAM.
  • The scouting has been done. The plans have been laid out, together with the contingency options. The TEAM has rehearsed everything over and over again. It’s now down to execution, and desire. Our team just has to want it more.
  • On a side note, former Archer Mac Mac Cardona was spotted at the DLSU Sports Complex yesterday. When asked why he was there, he said that he will be practicing with the team.

The Green Archer senior men basketball team is resilient. They have the ability to transform things in an instant. Madalas, yung akala mong talo na, biglang makakabawi at mananalo pa. Yan ang tamang diskarte at determinasyon. Ganyan ang talagang magaling na basketball player.

    Go Animo. Go La Salle.

  2. Jolo says:

nice one captain hook!malaking tulong ung practice mo with the team!

  3. jerometest says:

    really? captain hook was there?
that’s a good motivation for the team..

hope The Ninja was there too..

    goodlcuk for the team tomorrow..

hope we’ll bag this one now..

    ONE for AN1MO!!

  4. :) says:

DLSU! We can do it! :) Go team! ANIMO LA SALLE! :D

  5. O_o says:

Whether we win or we lose tomorrow, what matters is we compete for the whole game (and if may overtime, then the whole overtime) :D This team has a great future, I dont expect Webb to go for 20 something again, or for Hyram to hit another impossible hang in the air three to tie the game. I just expect them to play tough, to play the in your face-todo-trap-fullcourt press from hell that we do so well. :D If we play like that then we’ll be in a good position to win. Hopefully we wont just KEEP THE FAITH we’ll also KEEP THE TROPHY.

  6. I really AM the 20th pick!!!Whoohoo! says:

Where the heck are the tickets for good seats? I called ticketnet and they are offering general admission tickets!?!?!? Really!?!? thousands of tickets and i cant find one lowerbox or courtside ticket to watch the game tomorrow. Meantime, posers who dont care about the game and the team are prancing around talking on their iPhones or texting friends are sitting courtside! There has to be a system where “ordinary” fans can get good tickets. The current system is pathetic. Greenarchers.ph regulars comment “I want good tickets” if you agree with me!

  7. jab says:

Another test of HEART and FOCUS. Keep the faith!!! We showed them last Sunday that the team can still make it work…tomorrow is another chance to prove their worth. Kaya yan!!! Beat Ateneo…Animo LA SALLE!!!

  8. RJ says:

i’m pretty sure na nawawalan na tayo ng gana manood ng ateneo-la salle dahil sa pinapakita ng squad natin ngayon. 6-0 for ateneo? ouch. the team doesn’t have a leader. we need to see more determination and hear.

KEEP THE FAITH! again and again.

    ANIMO!

  9. ------------------- says:

i hope they can master doing the press. it hasn’t worked well this season. sana rin they maintain their composure. if we don’t have the offense, we can surely make up on defense

  10. 108 Boy says:

go captain hook! hope the boys learn all they can from him, he’s definitely a good motivator for the team.

GO TEAM! Hoping that my batch can finally experience what it feels like to win against Ateneo.

    D! L-S! U!
    Animo La Salle!

  11. coachoftheyear says:

In addition to captain hook being present in practice yesterday… Jvee Casio, Ren Ren Ritualo and ofcourse Captain Hook will be present at the game this Sunday.. There also are rumors that TY Tang will also be there… I hope they would serve as motivations for the rookies AND the VETERANS as well…

  12. O_o says:

    @ I really AM the 20th pick!!!Whoohoo

If you are still enrolled at DLSU (as an undergrad,im not sure for post graduate degrees) you can reserve 2 tickets (Upper box B if i remember right)using your MyLasalle account and just pay for it at school. I’m not sure how it works for the Alumni and others though

  13. coachoftheyear says:

    @ O_0 and I really AM the 2oth pick!!!Whoohoo

Yes you can reserve through your mylasalle account… but it is one ticket per student only.. :) If you are an alumni.. better check it out at the DLSAA office :)

  14. O_o says:

    @andrew tan
1 ticket nalang ang pwede i reserve sa MyLasalle? Akala ko dati hanggang 2 pwd?

  15. coachoftheyear says:

    @ O_o

Who is Andrew Tan? anyway… yes every student can only reserve 1 ticket. Before when that electronic system is 1st used, you can reserve 2 tickets per student max.. but the issue of scalping arises and it has been brought down to only 1 ticket.. :D

  16. scuderia says:

umm im starting to doubt that dlsu has the “best” rookies. if you see garcia of feu, reyes & padilla of up and teng of ust; all of them contribute consistently for their teams and have solid basketball fundamentals plus they’re very confident!

goodluck to the dlsu team! laban kahit dehado!

  17. ICJ says:

today’s the big day. hope the team canexecute, play hard-nose defense, and play with Animo.

  18. Pat says:

    @scuderia,

i would still like to believe that dlsu has the best rookies. later on, people will see that. but as of now, we shouldn’t expect so much from them. for me, as long as they give their best and play with a lot of heart and intensity, they will always be the best.

  19. N.P.A says:

dude, we’re getting punished out there, and maybe let’s face the reality here, the players are not as good, malabes is a brick layer, mangahas is not the veteran we expected to be, atkins can’t have a big impact, the guards of other team slashes the defense like hot knife through our buttery defense….YES I WILL NOT STOP POSTING NEGATIVE COMMENTS

  20. dieharddlsu says:

the one thing our plaayers have to develop is to improve on their medium range shooting. if we make a good percentage of our shots then we might just steal an upset from ateneo. the defense will always be there. yung offense and problema. if only we have a player in the mold of ren-ren or joseph who the teAm can depend on to score the needed points especially in the clutch (that’ what ren-ren did for us in the past).

  21. Jolo says:

haaay.i think that our players doesn’t have the heart to win

  22. ID105 says:

Bader Malabes has got to be the most consistent player for DLSU right now. Consistent on turnovers. Consistent on bad plays and bad shots. And he is probably the most consistent UAAP player when it comes to air balls. I suggest that the coaching staff should consider trimming down the playing time of players like bader because bad plays, turnovers, and air balls do not only kill us statiscally, but they also affecting the mood of the game (including the fans’) resulting to unpleasant outcomes. I am pissed, but I still believe. I’m gonna be watching the next game.
