  • The sluggish Archers fell to the Adamson Falcons, 55-61 in today's first game. Not exactly the result our supporters expected after the team's valiant and spirited effort against Ateneo last Sunday.
  • The Archers seemed a half step slower at times, and Adamson seemed to have prepared for the Archers’ traditional offensive sets, crowding the Archers in their favorite spots and contesting all shots, particularly those in the paint.
  • It was a puzzling game to many observers, perhaps because of the 1-6 record of Adamson at the end of the first round. It’s worthwhile remembering that Adamson lost several games by 3 points or less in the first round, including that 1point overtime loss to our team, and that they beat the Archers in a pre-season tournament. Adamson is better than their record suggests. Give credit to Adamson, they wanted it more and it showed as they were more active on the boards and in going after loose balls.
  • The Archers started off hot from the 3point area, hitting all 9 points in the first quarter from treys. After that initial streak, the Archers’ arrows started missing the mark. In the first half, the Archers made 5 out of their 9 3point attempts, while making only 3/23 on 2point attempts. Far out thought - maybe they should have fired away from the long court more instead of bringing the ball closer to the hoop? Nah, bad idea. They just have to believe that they can sink those shots.
  • Some previous faults of the first few games resurfaced – lazy passes that were picked off, playing great defense for at least 20 seconds, then allowing the opponents to score in the last couple of seconds, failing to box out on the rebounds, forcing contested shots, hesitating on open shots. Probably indications of a lack of concentration on the game. Maybe they were already thinking ahead to Sunday’s game.
  • It was the veterans who engineered the closing kick that brought the lead down to what it was at the end of the game. Bader hit a couple of fts, James scored on a drive, and Peejay hit a contested triple. Interestingly, Peejay seems to connect late in the games. Now, if only he can carry over that last second mindset earlier in the games.
  • With a 4-4 record, the Archers cannot afford to lose many more games. They have to win at least 4 out of the remaining 6 games to have a good shot at the final 4. This was a game the Archers were expected to win, so they'll need to pick up at least 2 wins from the "stronger" teams like Ateneo, FEU, UE, and UST, while making sure that they successfully hurdle UP and NU. A 7-7 record is a risky proposition.
  • The team has two days to shed the negative feelings from the loss. Someone said that it seemed like they all got off the wrong side of the bed. Whatever, this game is a wakeup call, that the team can't sleepwalk through any of the games. Hope this loss fires up the players. It’s a good thing that the score on Sunday’s game will be 0-0 during the opening tipoff.

  1. Ateneo beware! We’re coming off back-to-back losses … Rektikano!

  2. I was disappointed losing to Adamson. We should have learned from our mistake last Sunday! Hope we can have straight 5 wins for this round!

  3. very disappointing! sa Adamson pa tayo natalo!…guys, we cannot afford to lose the remaining games…this is the time to sharpen your arrows…we have faith in you!!!

  4. I believe that it would take a miracle for the archers to win over FEU, but I’m confident that they could pull one off against AdMU this sunday :)

  5. Disappointing! Hyram Bagatsing’s feeble passes and shots; Andrada awkward fouls; no offensive rebounding; no fluidity; etc. The team repeatedly did not know what to do when in possession of the ball then ended up fouling Adamson on the return play. The team was uncoordinated and there seemed to be no logical offensive play.
How come coach Franz kept RV Bringas on the bench?

  6. “The Archers started off hot from the 3point area, hitting all 9 points in the first quarter from treys”
    – Hi Nel. The first 9pts of the first was composed of an Atkins and Marata three, a Webb fastbreak layin, and a freethrow by i-forgot-who. Animo La Salle.

  7. Oops, you’re right. The two triples, a Webb layup, and a Yutien foul shot. Thanks for the correction.

  8. I felt bad the way the achers played againts Adu! i don’t know kung bkit gnun , maybe the archers was co confident n mamatalo nila ang Adu or there looking forward na on the sunday showdown.I was ecpecting that the archers will won that game in walk in park manner, they we’re totaly a different team that they are when they played againts Ateneo last sunday , 4-4 record well?? not bad!!!. Lets all hope and pray that the Green and White team will win all there remaining games , for us to make it again to the final 4.
Lets all watch and support the Achers in all there remaining games.GO LA SALLE! WE BELIEVE , JUST KEEP THE FAITH..

  9. i hope manalo na tayo this sunday! keep the faith! dapat manalo tayo sa mga chicken, i mean sa mga ibon. LOL. Burn them in flames of GREEN and WHITE!!!

WIN OR LOSE, IT’S LA SALLE WE CHOOSE!!!

  10. Malabes with the off the board three point attempt. Only it hit just that…the board! Classic Malabes! I love this team. They are like a girl that you really like who doesnt even know you exist. If you dont invest enough time and effort to get close to her, you feel a void, like something is missing. But if you do put in the time and go the extra mile to win her over, she breaks your heart. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2009-10 La Salle Green Archers!!!

  11. Adamson had a 15-0 run in that first quarter to start the struggle…. Thank God Barua is connecting his threes now… And the freethrows…. improving… 16/23 or 69.6 percent…. First round stats…. free throws were… 59.4%…..

The two point fieldgoals of La Salle was the lowest ever since the statisticians for this season were hired…. 9/41 or 22%….. This should be improved in the next game.

  12. i still believe the archers can make it to the final four; still keeping the faith…….a lot of adjustments has to be done and i hope they will all keep their talents together in every game….i noticed that only one or two players outshine the others in each game, sana magsama-sama na mag shine all in every game….coach franz is really amazing in bringing out the best in each player….whatever the pressure that the players feel i know they wanted to bring out their best….LA SALLE pa din FOREVER……

  13. LA SALLE PA DIN FOREVER…………!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. This was really a disappointing loss coming into Sunday’s game against Ateneo, again. Remember, Webb was a surprise and a revelation last Sunday and was virtually a one-man scoring machine. Having discovered what this guy can do, I think he’s a marked man for this Sunday’s game. So what does the team need to do? All the other players, particularly the veterans like Mangahas, Barua and Malabes, need to step up and do better than they previously have. Bringas must play a monster game like he did against UST and show why he’s the prized rookie that he is. Unless this happens, we’re almost sure to be blown out by Reyes, Rabeh, Salamat, Buenafe and company. I shudder to think.
