Postgame Bullets: DLSU 72 ADMU 76
Posted by GREENARCHERS.PH- It was a game that slipped away. The Green Archers were in control for the most part of the ballgame. But a series of miscues down the stretch enabled the Blue Eagles to crawl back. In the end, it was Ateneo’s end-game composure that sealed the win for them.
- The young guys carried the cudgels today. Sadly, the veterans especially those who performed well last week against UST failed to show up.
- Kudos to the Amazing Spider Webb for his superb performance in today’s game. He was simply a workhorse on both ends of the court and he simply weaved his way against the phalanx of defenders. A gallant stand indeed for this sophomore.
- It was also a great game for Jovet Mendoza, Arvie Bringas and of course, “Tayshaun Prince” Andrada who had two block shots against the reigning MVP. If he can do this already at his present physique, what more once he bulks up?
- Unlike last year, the Archers now have the quality big men to challenge those from Ateneo. We almost had it really but the bad breaks just did us in today.
- Nevertheless, the Green Archers proved that they can hang tough against the defending champions. Judging from La Salle’s first two games, everyone thought that this game would be a blowout in Ateneo’s favor. This game was certainly a classic regardless who won.
- I believe the team is still peaking. They will only get better in the second round.

what a heartbreaker, haayyyy
August 9th, 2009 - 21:14
indeed it was a classic game. lessons learned for the archers: improve their basketball IQ especially the veterans of the team. it was only webb, bringas, and mendoza who have the courage to drive hard to the basket, trying to score a high percentage shot. our veterans should emulate the courage and heart of these archers

Our team lost, but I still think it was a great game. we played great for 40 minutes, but for the extra 5, bokya. The team proved its critics wrong. Akala ng iba tatambakan tayo ng 10+ points, pero muntikan pa tayong manalo! It’s a learning process, and I am sure the team learned a lot from the game. Bringas and Webb were great, and the last two 3-point shots by Bringas and Bagatsing in the 4th quarter were unexpected. Congratulations to the team for a job well done!
KEEP THE FAITH!!!
ANIMO LA SALLE!!!

We almost had it but, it’s ok… even if we lost the game today, it was not that sore. Denying Rabeh many times by Sam Marata was enough to leave a smile on my face… It was so claen and the timing was perfect! I think this grin will last till the rest of the week! hehe! Just joking! ;>
It was a great quality ballplay displayed by the Green Archers! La Sallian ballgame’s ON! It’s becomming a deep bench isn’t it… Kudos to Jovet, Spider, Arvie, Yutien, Hyram, Kish and the rest of the team! Just a little comment on the vets… I hope they make sure they convert consistently… ;>
Meron pang next game! I’m so excited to see the DE LA SALLE GREEN ARCHERS once more! ;> They are my school’s team and soooo my favorite!
Win or lose… Animo Green Archers! Animo La Salle!

Kudos to team captain, Hyram Bagatsing for his crucial shot.
August 9th, 2009 - 21:54
Don’t worry about this game.
WWIM – win when it matters. That’s during the semi-finals and the finals!!!
August 9th, 2009 - 22:21
it was my first time to witness DLSU and ADMU play live.. and i really enjoyed the game..
my throat got sore.. still, it was fun to be part of the thousand la sallians..
we fell short on this game.. but still, we prove that we can still be contenders..
second round.. here we come!
August 9th, 2009 - 22:27
Great game. If we do get to the final 4, we can put the scare on our opponent. Dark horse team if ever i saw one. Thanks Coach for playing the rooks and sophs more. The veterans just dont have it. Its the first game i watched end to end, i just now realized that i shouldnt gripe about how the vets should step up. I noticed that they are not that good. They can be a good supporting cast (like when Rico and JV were still playing) but as go to guys….Nope. Spidey Webb, Hyram, Bringas, Mendoza Marata and that lanky pogo stick kid…big, big cajones!!! Yeahboy!
August 9th, 2009 - 22:43
For a rookie team, they are really impressive

ANIMO!
i’m looking forward to having wins on Round 2!
The fight’s not over yet
August 9th, 2009 - 22:49
It was a heartbreaker … but it proves that it can be done! = ) Next time …. keeping the faith! Animo La Salle!
August 9th, 2009 - 22:54
@ bhadji: it was Andrada who blocked Rabeh twice.
re: the last bullet, oh they WILL! (they should! haha)
*applause* for the rookies and sophs. bright, bright future for DLSU. =D
a deep sigh, on the other hand, for our so-called veterans.
nice game, over-all. ANIMO!!=D
August 9th, 2009 - 23:08
Awesome game. Animo la salle!:>
Although we lost, watching it was still worth it.:)
August 9th, 2009 - 23:10
Kudos to the young green archers. We need though to have more contributions from the veterans. Good luck on your next games. Animo La Salle!!!
August 9th, 2009 - 23:13
August 9th, 2009 - 23:59
Joshua Webb cuts both ways. You need his tenacity and attitude to spark the team but if he crosses the line he hurts his team. Great game but keep your composure next time.
August 10th, 2009 - 00:28
Regardless of winning or loosing, this game in particular is so far the best game wherein you can see the fluidity of the ball movement, good defense and the so called heart to win. Lets stop putting the blame to anyone they are a team after all…
What is important is that we showed the people that what they have been saying in the start of the season when we are still 0-2, is wrong. We proved to them that we can beat strong teams like UST and we can tame the “mighty” eagles for almost 4 quarters. Now they have to be careful with us come the 2nd round!..
August 10th, 2009 - 00:50
I think we now have a “Rabeh-stopper” in Yutien Andrada.. Great game by our young players but the vets also need to step up and lead by example.. I’m expecting a different result in the 2nd rd matchup with Ateneo.. Also if Rabeh’s injury is serious or he’s not back 100%, then the Eagles may have won the battle but they’ve definitely lost the war..
August 10th, 2009 - 00:54
@tax, I appreciate the correction, thank you!
Hehe! winagayway lang ni Prince Andrada yung kamay nya kanina… na-steal na! Wala pa si Sam and Gab ha!
Vets… please appreciate niyo naman efforts ng rookies! Be consistent shooters, be one with the team… play smarter!
May next games pa! Looking forward to see the blooming awesomeness(and goodlooks) of the Green Archers once more! ;>
Animo!

KEEP THE FAITH, ANIMO LA SALLE! ♥ DLSU really played like a team today. Still so proud of you guys!
Good game!
August 10th, 2009 - 05:57
the best game i have seen from the team this season and i have watched each and every game from day one live. this team has heart really big heart and thats what makes champions. i cant imagine what this team can do in the next round. the coaching team has to be congratulated for this….
August 10th, 2009 - 09:13
why isn’t there a mention of the amazing spider webb’s excellent foul in the bullets? that was a big incident in the game.
August 10th, 2009 - 09:37
i think our team would have won had it not for mangahas.he was off and as usual slow. the blue guys capitalized from all his miscues.
August 10th, 2009 - 09:41
but the thing is…our team is peaking at the right time. i am positive that archers would be at number 1 or at least tied for solo 1st at the end of the 2nd round. ANIMO LA SALLE!!
August 10th, 2009 - 09:43
Joshua Webb should be called the Kamikaze Kid! Way to go “Tayshaun Prince” Andrada! Blocking Rabeh twice really took him out of his game and humbled him. Proud of the way we played! KEEP THE FAITH. ANIMO LA SALLE!
August 10th, 2009 - 10:34
This was a game i was not totally sad after, not because i dont care but it was a really really worth-watching game!! I was at upper A and the view of A+ defense of lasalle was clean! just wait for andrada to buff a lil more, rabeh! hehe i guess rabeh was psyched by andrada, much as our vets are psyched by the thought of going up against ateneo!remember out vets never won to admu, sad for them!very wise of coach franz to start with rookies!they delivered.they have guts.
To the entire uaap,i think a message was clearly delivered yesterday. LASALLE BASKETBALL IS ALIVE.
August 10th, 2009 - 11:56
good job archers!! proud of the team!! KEEP the FAITH!! ANIMO DLSU!!
August 10th, 2009 - 14:56
we can do better on round 2… just keep the faith!
we’ve got great rookies… i believe in what these guys can do… for the veterans, what word could best describe your plays? uhm i don’t know… i just hope you’ll show what you’re truly made for during the next games… go ARCHERS!
***two thumbs up for the prince of block… TAYSHAUN PRINCE “Yutien” ANDRADA!***
August 10th, 2009 - 15:53
rookies did a great job.. vets you guys can do better we know! still a great game! IDOL ANDRADA!!! ANIMO LASALLE!!
August 10th, 2009 - 16:27
Nel, It’s been a while since we had big guys with loads of potential. I’m looking forward to the development of these guys over the years. On the other side, it seems that our vets are still mentally absent! What bothers me is that these are players with much potential and skill — we all know what James, PJ and Bader can do. These guys had better show up — it’s the final stretch of the season.
Over all though, great effort by the two teams.
August 10th, 2009 - 16:51
GHRanger, agreed, we’ve we’ll have a bumper crop of bigs for the next 3-4 years. We just have to be patient enough to let our young players mature gracefully. Regarding the vets showing up, I just read that one did show up at a hospital last Friday to have a sprained ankle looked at, so that’s probably the reason for his below-par performance yesterday. The team has lots of upside, we just have to allow them to grow into their game. Hopefully that’ll happen early in the 2nd round.
August 10th, 2009 - 22:50
well, one thing for sure, we were able to prove that we can really beat them…and yeah, what a game!!! Still, congrats guys…ANIMO LA SALLE!!!
August 11th, 2009 - 06:57
Despite the loss, our Players still deserve a tap on their shoulders. Most of them played well, especially the rookies and the sophomores. Veterans are still expected to bring out their true game. We can’t just rely on those players who are willing to step up. EACH player should do something and should contribute to win in every game.
The 2nd round elimination is just around the corner, we can still improve and show them that the so-called Underdogs of this season can still pull out a magic or two. We can still prove them wrong. =) We are keeping our FAITH. ANIMO LA SALLE!!
August 12th, 2009 - 16:42
Paano pa next year? I think we can still pull this one. Remember two years ago?
Animo La Salle!
August 13th, 2009 - 16:40
this coming Sunday, we’re going to cheer again for the team. But, I hope La Salle will win the second time.
REKTIKANO!
